Epiphone Hummingbird PRO Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

The Good: Build quality, familiar design, and top notch electronics. The sounds is great and won't leave anyone disappointed. It's a well rounded guitar that is versatile and capable suitable for any application.

The Bad: Epiphone Hummingbird PRO has very few flaws. The main thing we could point out right away is the saddle. It just fails to follow the rest of the guitar when it comes to quality and feels cheap.

The Verdict: You can't go wrong with the Epiphone Hummingbird PRO. It's just a great guitar no matter what miniscule flaws we can find. It is at the top of our price range but it is definitely worth every penny.

Overview

Epiphone Hummingbird PRO, offers an incredible sound delivered by a very well made instrument. It's an old model that has been revamped and updated. This Epiphone won't disappoint even the most critical musicians who have a finely tuned ear. The guitar sports a very nice faded cherry finish, which makes it one of the more beautiful models on the market. If you wanted to describe this guitar in just a few words, you could say that it's the familiar Epiphone quality we are used to, delivered in a more attractive and modern package.

Design

The design is of the Epiphone Hummingbird PRO is nothing new. It is mostly the same familiar shape that they used in their previous iterations of this guitar. It's made of solid spruce top while the neck, the sides and the back are made from select mahogany. The bridge is made of rosewood, and so is the fretboard with the addition of pearled inlays. Like we've mentioned already, this Epiphone is amplified. The electronics consist of the new Shadow ePerformer preamp and Shadow Nano Flex pickup setup. The preamp is located on the upper bout and includes controls such as master volume, treble, bass, mute, and a dynamics control. The preamp is powered by two 2032 batteries.

Quality

The build quality of this Epiphone is just incredible. You simply feel it when you hold the guitar in your hands. The only weak point is the saddle which is made from artificial materials. However it rarely poses a problem no matter how frequently you use this guitar. The Shadow electronics are among the best available, and do a great job at reproducing that acoustic sound in almost all environments. The guitar itself sounds just amazing.

Conclusion

There isn't much to hold against the Epiphone Hummingbird PRO. You can argue that it's not a Gibson Hummingbird, and that is true, however it offers a good portion of that sound and quality for a fairly reasonable price. The electronics that come with it are top notch and will serve well both for recreational and professional use.
