When it comes to gaming, we want 3 things: A great CPU to calculate rapidly enough. A wonder of a GPU to render all the glorious images on high settings. And a Full HD screen to display all this graphical splendour in its full glory. Practically always do gaming laptops under 1000 or 800 dollars have two out of three. But not this time. The MSI GP60 has all the technology on board to offer you the very best gaming experience possible in this price range. Simply a great choice.
The MSI G Series GP60 Leopard-010 is like a ninja. Even though it carries all the tech to make it a force to be reckoned with, it hides its muscle well. Coming packed in a 15 by 10 by 1.5 inch chassis, weighing in at 5.3 pounds, the MSI GP60 is fairly sleek in its modest exterior. The first thing we noticed was the beautiful logo on the lid of the laptop reminding us of the likes of an Italian super car. Under the lid this theme continues as red accents show themselves around the keyword. It’s these details that tell you this is no ordinary laptop.
Further down in the core of the laptop is where the heart of the matter is. Under all this seemingly calm and modest exterior, hides the 2.5 GHz i5-4200M made by Intel. Supported by 8 GB of DDR3L SDRAM the MSI GP60 is not short of any calculation performance. Even though the competition at Acer comes with an i7, it is the raw power of the i5 in the MSI GP60 that made it beat the i7 in the independent bench mark tests by GPU Boss. Giving the i7 2.5 GHz of the MSI GP60 the lead with a 7.3 in overall performance over the 7.2 for the i7 in the machines by Acer.
As you already know, the real fun starts at the graphical heart of the MSI GP60. Having the NVIDIA Geforce GT840M as its dedicated graphics card on board, means that it is able to play most high end games on medium to high settings at Full HD. A feat which is very uncommon, perhaps even unique, among the best gaming laptops under 800 dollars. According to the independent bench mark tests at NotebookCheck, the GeForce GT840M allows the MSI GP60 to run the Elder Scrolls Online at 46.6 frames per second (fps) on medium settings and 33.2 fps on high settings.
The MSI G Series GP60 Leopard-010 is like a ninja. Having a great looking and sexy exterior resembling not unlike a Lamborghini or Ferrari, the same holds true for the power below. Coming packed with an i5 2.5 GHz processor and GT840M graphics card, the MSI GP60 has more performance than most though possible in this price range. A very good choice.
