Why is Lenovo ThinkPad 11e Ultrabook a decent student laptop choice under $500?

This little laptop is a beast for its price and size. Sure, it's not as impressive as HP's Pavilion X360 11.6 that shares the same form factor and doubles as a tablet, but it's not bad either.

The built in processor from AMD is decent in most cases, but it gets a bit sluggish when several applications are running. If you choose to swap the built-in HDD for an SSD, you'll get a much better performance out of this little computer.

The keyboard is pretty comfortable to use, which is an important factor for college students, as you'll probably write a lot of papers during your studies. The screen is bright, but it's far from impressive.

Tech Specs:

  • Screen size: 11.6 inches
  • Screen Resolution: 1366x768 pixels
  • Processor:     1.8 GHz AMD A Series
  • Memory: 4GB RAM DDR3
  • Storage:    120 GB HDD
  • GPU:     AMD Radeon R3
  • Weight: 3.3 pounds (1.5 kg)
  • Dimensions: 8.5 x 11.8 x 0.9 inches (21.6 x 30 x 2.3 cm)
  • OS: Windows 10

Conclusion

If you need a small Windows laptop for as little money as possible, then Lenovo ThinkPad 11e is a great choice for you. Don't expect this laptop to be extremely powerful, however, it can handle most of the basic stuff, which will be enough for most college students.
