Dell XPS XPS15-9168sLV Review

The Good: Dell is a reputable brand known for great customer service and excellent operation management. Sadly none of this helps the XPS15 be a gaming laptop.

The Bad: At 10.6 pounds, the Dell XPS15 is insanely unportable. Coming equipped with the old NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M as its graphics card and a Windows 7 Home Premium version, is not impressing anyone in 2018. 

The Verdict: The Dell XPS15 is an uncomfortably large machine carrying very little technology that should convince a modern gamer. Dell creates amazing gaming machines under the brand Alienware. Sadly none of those fit the category best laptop for gaming under 800 dollars.

Why is the Dell XPS15 part of the best gaming laptops under $800?

The Dell XPS15 was once able to impress gamers with its processor and graphics card combination. Sadly those days have passed, a long time ago. These days, an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M just doesn’t cut it when wanting to play the latest and greatest games on anything but low settings. 

Features

The Dell XPS15 is a laptop of the previous generation. Although the build quality is amazing, the almost 11 pounds heavy laptop is almost comparable to a desktop when it comes to portability. Being replaced soon by a newer version, the Dell XPS15 stills carries the older Windows 7 Home Premium edition. 

The technology of the Dell XPS15 fits the above descriptions. Both the processor, the 2.5 GHz Intel i5-3210M, and the graphics card, the NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M, are older versions. Although capable of playing some of the latest games on low settings, we’re afraid that the Dell will not allow you to play all of the latest games. Even on low. 

Conclusion

The Dell XPS15 is not the best gaming laptop for under 800 dollars by a long shot. Coming equipped with a lot of old technology in a very heavy chassis, means you would be wise to spend your money elsewhere.
