Nokia Lumia 928 Review

The Good: Very smooth performance. The Nokia Lumia 928 features a good camera with Carl Zeiss optics that takes great photos, even in low light.

The Bad: Generic, clunky design. You can't expand storage externally. The battery life could be better.

The Verdict: The Nokia Lumia 928 is very competitively priced, and offers good performance for the money. It's a pretty solid phone with a slick display and a sharp camera, but the battery life is just OK. The phone may be a bit older, but Lumia 928 can still holds its own against other budget smartphones.

Design and Build Quality

The Lumia 928 is no scrawny stallion, but maybe super thin smartphones have spoiled us. Still, the phone should have a better battery considering its size. Nokia's phone does feel good in the palm thanks to its flat sides and slightly curved back. It's a well-built phone, but it's nothing spectacular design-wise and still a bit heavy.

Software and User Experience

The Nokia Lumia 928 comes with Windows Phone 8 operating system, and a couple of Nokia's very own specialized apps like Nokia Music and Nokia Drive. The phone also comes with apps like CNN, EPSN, Weather Channel app loaded on. The phone's internals pair really well with Microsoft's mobile operating system, which results in pleasantly smooth performance almost all of the time.

Nokia's Lumia 928 features a 8MP rear facing camera with Carl Zeiss optics that is capable of taking really high quality photos, perhaps among the best in its class. Most images are very sharp and colors are true and detailed. The camera is also capable of taking smooth 1080p full HD video. The 1.2MP front-facing camera is decent, but nothing spectacular.

If you're looking for a budget smartphone that isn't running Android (99% of them are), then the Lumia 928 may be a good choice for you. It has a good display that isn't to big, but the phone itself is a bit clunky. The most standout feature of this phone is its camera, so if this is an important factor, you should definitely consider the Nokia Lumia 928.
