Jawbone UP2 is a fairly inconspicuous fitness tracker that will monitor all of your main activities and record the stats for later viewing. It's a more basic device, but one that works fairly well for its price. It's very light, and you definitely won't feel it on your wrist as you go about your day.
Jawbone UP2 sports a simple design, and looks more like a piece of jewelry than a fitness trainer. You could say it looks like a bracelet. Jawbone UP2 doesn't have a display, meaning that the only way to review your progress and stats is by using a smart phone synced with Jawbone UP2. The device is housed in a textured aluminum case that seamlessly merges with the strap. The locking mechanism is definitely not standard, and can be hard to setup properly. However, once you find your fit, it won't come undone.
When it comes to features this device offers, they are rather basic. You have your activity tracker which tracks your steps, calories and general activity. There is a sleep mode, which keeps a record of how long and how well you sleep. This mode also comes with an alarm feature that calculates your REM cycles, and wakes you up between two cycles for best effect. Lastly, there is a stopwatch feature that you can use to measure your exercise goals. There are no visible buttons on the Jawbone UP2, but you can activate different features by tapping the top of the device.
Jawbone's activity tracker isn't very accurate, but that's a given for any device that uses an accelerometer to calculate your activity stats. You can expect to have a general idea of what you have achieved for the day. The app provided with Jawbone UP2 is very intuitive and user friendly. The layout is clean and simple, allowing you to access all of your stats easily. There is a SmartCoach feature in the app, which is supposed to help you optimize your exercise routine, but it's not yet completely functional.
Battery life is great, and you can expect your Jawbone UP2 to run for more than a week on a single charge. Lack of display is partially what enables this device to have such a long battery life. Charging is done through a proprietary magnetic cable that you plug into a USB port. Jawbone UP2 is not waterproof.
Jawbone UP2 is not as advanced as other Jawbone fitness trackers, however it is a good option for those looking for an inconspicuous fitness tracker that offers all the important information, and costs less than most of the competition. The accuracy of information is on average with any other device that uses accelerometers to calculate data, but is reliable enough.
